# Choose question types

> Pick the right Jobing field for each answer you need.

Jobing Forms supports 15 question types.

| Type            | Best for                                   |
| --------------- | ------------------------------------------ |
| Short text      | Names, titles, short descriptions          |
| Long text       | Enquiries, feedback, project details       |
| Email           | Email addresses with email-format checking |
| Phone           | Phone numbers                              |
| Number          | Quantities, budgets, team size             |
| Dropdown        | One answer from a compact list             |
| Multiple choice | One visible answer from several options    |
| Checkboxes      | More than one answer                       |
| Yes or no       | A clear two-option answer                  |
| Rating          | A score from 1 to 5                        |
| Date            | A preferred or relevant date               |
| Time            | A preferred time                           |
| File upload     | A document or supported image              |
| Consent         | A required or optional agreement           |
| Website         | A website, portfolio, or profile address   |

## Choose the shortest suitable input

Use **Short text** for a name and **Long text** for an explanation. Use **Number** when you plan to compare amounts.

Use a choice question when you know the likely answers. This makes response summaries and exports more consistent.

## Required questions

Make a question required only when you truly need the answer. Long forms and unnecessary required fields reduce completion.

For sensitive information, explain why you need it and how you will use it.

## Validation

You can set:

* minimum and maximum lengths for short or long text;
* minimum and maximum values for numbers;
* file type and size restrictions for uploads.
